Discover with me the bountiful stories to be found, both fictional and real, as we travel from the top of a castle down to the cobbled streets.
When in Rome: Utrecht's Followers of Caravaggio
March 2019, Discover Benelux
An old zen proverb states that to follow the path in any discipline, you must first find the master. Then, you must follow them, walk with them and see through them to finally become the master yourself. In the early 17th century, three young Dutch artists arrived in Rome to walk this path.

For a long time I believed I would become a professional artist. But then I discovered the potential of using the written word instead of a brush or pencil to create. So, to the surprise of many, I instead chose a career in journalism. Communicating art through the written word is a challenging but rewarding pursuit. Getting to see incredible works of art, researching and discussing them with experts is the best part of my job.
Art journalism should connect the art industry to the masses, it should encourage people to seek out art, help them see the world differently and maybe even explore their own creativity. Art is a powerful force that helps us understand ourselves, our history, the world and other people. Nobody should be deprived of this.

"Whenever Isa is working on a project, she goes all in. She will find out everything there is to know about a subject and even challenge experts with tough questions until she has all the information she needs. This makes her work original, thought-provoking and compelling to read."
